Summer is Here

Sometimes I enjoy watching content creators showing off their book writing process. There’s cardigans, tea or coffee, snacks, Pinterest boards, playlists… this whole cozy vibe. It’s aesthetic, it’s pleasing, and it makes me happy for their process.

My process is a little different. I work in an outside service field in the southeast, and summer is the busy season. It’s ten-hour days in ninety-five-degree weather with eighty-two percent humidity. I get home and I’m hot, tired, dehydrated, and probably nursing a heat rash. It’s into the shower, scarf down a meal, then frantically hammer at the keyboard while trying to drink enough fluids to replenish before passing out after a couple hours.

It’s no surprise that summer is my least productive time of year. It’s hard to find motivation or energy, but I keep at it, because I love writing, I have a story I want to tell. The first part is out now, Mystech: Fracture. Part two is in progress.

The phrase ‘winter is coming’ might be a warning in some places, but here, it’s a promise of relief to come.
